An exhibition based on the memories of founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş was put together at Ercan Airport.
President Rauf Raif Denktaş is being commemorated on the 11th anniversary of his death with an exhibition titled “Rauf R. Denktaş in Photographs and His Own Words,” which opened at T&T Ercan Airport.
The exhibition presents “an abridged history of a people’s struggle for existence and freedom, through the life of the late President Rauf Raif Denktaş, who devoted his life to a cause.”
The exhibition, which opened beyond the final security checkpoint in the passenger departure hall at Ercan Airport, features photographs selected from Denktaş’s private archive of thousands of photographs, along with his own words describing them.
Researched and prepared by Mine Kar and Cem Kar, the exhibition features previously unseen photographs of Rauf R. Denktaş, as well as words that shed light on his childhood, family, years of struggle, and the history of Cyprus. The exhibition was prepared with special permission from the Denktaş family and by accessing Rauf R. Denktaş’s private archive at his office in Nicosia, the office of the founding President of the TRNC.
Speaking about the exhibition, T&T Airport Management General Manager M. Serhat Özçelik said they were commemorating the late Rauf Raif Denktaş with longing and respect on the 11th anniversary of his death.
Özçelik said that founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş, who holds a very special place in the hearts of Turkish Cypriots, would always retain his exceptional place in history for his leadership and statesmanship, qualities admired around the world. Özçelik also thanked Mine Kar and Cem Kar for their work on the exhibition.
