Originally from İzmit, Cem Kar has lived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus since arriving in 1999 to pursue his undergraduate studies.
He completed his undergraduate degree in Radio, Television and Film at the Faculty of Communication at Near East University (NEU), then earned a master’s degree in Public Relations at the same university. He holds a doctorate in Communication and Media Management from Girne American University (GAU).
Kar began his professional career as a main news anchor at Kanal T in 2000. Since 1999, he has worked with media organizations across Northern Cyprus. Alongside teaching at GAU’s Faculty of Communication, he produces interviews using his own 360° video format. He is editor-in-chief of the AI-supported TNW News website and presents the Yüz Yüze programme on Kıbrıs Genç TV.
Since 2012, Kar has served as director at Abrakadabra Communication Management (ACM), where he is a partner, and as CEO of Pools Plus Cyprus. His work in these roles has included political election campaigns and advertising campaigns for private-sector clients.
He is currently working on the Tünel documentary film and book, as well as the Sinema ve Kıbrıs projects.
