GAU Faculty of Communication will host veteran Turkish television and film screenwriter-director and producer Osman Sınav and one of its prominent actors, Kenan İmirzalıoğlu, for a joint discussion.
According to information provided by Prof. Dr. Neriman Saygılı, Dean of Girne American University (GAU) Faculty of Communication, the panel titled "The Present and Future of the Turkish Film and Television Industry" will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, at the GAU Spectrum Congress Center, moderated by Cem Kar. Emphasizing the event’s general invitation, Prof. Dr. Saygılı announced that the panel is intended to offer guidance and information, particularly for students pursuing higher education in communication, fine arts, and performing arts, saying: "Our event is open to all our students and everyone interested in cinema and the visual and performing arts; we would be delighted to have you join us." WHO ARE OSMAN SINAV AND KENAN İMİRZALIOĞLU? Born in Burdur in 1956, Osman Sınav also studied at the Cinema and Television Institute of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1979. He began his career as an advertising copywriter. After writing nearly 500 commercials and campaigns through the production company he founded, he brought his advertising career to a close in 1987 and focused exclusively on film projects. He made the films "Bir Muharririn Ölümü, Hünkarın Bir Günü, Yalancı Şafak, Küçük Dünya and Aşka Kimse Yok," as well as "Süper Baba" in 1993 and "Yalancı" in 1994, which would earn him the Golden Orange Award for Best Director. The director, who also created other TV series such as "Melek Apartmanı, Mavi Düşler and Sıcak Saatler," discovered Kenan İmirzalıoğlu, whom he considered to have a strong screen presence. The İmirzalıoğlu–Sınav partnership began in 1998 with the series "Deli Yürek." Among many other projects, widely acclaimed series such as "Ekmek Teknesi" and "Kurtlar Vadisi," which he directed and produced, increased Osman Sınav’s international recognition. Sınav taught at GAU Faculty of Communication for many years.
Kenan İmirzalıoğlu, who represented Türkiye and won first place in the "Best Model of the World 1997 (World’s Best Model)" competition, was born in Ankara in 1974 and is known for portraying strong characters in television and film. The actor, whose roles in particular in the series Deli Yürek (1998–2002), Ezel (2009–2011), and Karadayı (2012–2015) increased his popularity in Türkiye, continues his career with distinction in television programs, series, and advertising.
