Dr. Cem Kar, producer of the *Meçhul Tutsaklar* documentary and author of the book, described in detail the Turkish Cypriots’ struggle to make themselves known and also provided information about the documentary. Kar said, “I will share with you what happened to Turkish Cypriots and journalists who went missing for a time and were believed to be dead. I will also support my account with the stories and documents of Turkish Cypriots and journalists. I conducted serious research on this subject. It took me two years. During this process, I conducted interviews lasting more than 1,500 minutes in total, at different times and places, with 57 people living in Turkey, Cyprus, England and Australia. I obtained documents from that period. With a 40-person reenactment team, we tried to tell the stories, enriched by the documents we had found, in the *Meçhul Tutsaklar* documentary. We also turned the interviews conducted for the documentary into a book, using a different structure. Today, we are sharing this important information and these documents with you. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is struggling to live under its own flag. We have a problem making Cyprus known. Unfortunately, we are not able to promote and explain it sufficiently. Talks like this provide an important opportunity for us to better tell the story of the Turkish Cypriots. I would like to thank, first and foremost, Mayor Cemal Akın and his team for bringing us together with you at such an important event,” he said.
After the speeches, the *Meçhul Tutsaklar* documentary was screened. At times, the screening prompted emotional moments in the hall. The talk then continued as a question-and-answer discussion with the participants. At the end, Bartın Deputy Mayor Erol Demirkoparanoğlu presented plaques and various gifts to journalist Hüseyin Turan and Dr. Cem Kar in recognition of their support for the 24th Bartın Municipality International Book Fair.
