You must have encountered problems in your life that became impossible to resolve. Yet even if at first glance you said, “It’s impossible to solve this problem,” you must have witnessed the problem solving itself over time... After all, you must have had, do have, and perhaps even right now, as you read these lines, have a problem or a worry on your mind.
It is perfectly natural to have problems.
You have had problems in your personal history, and you will have them now and in the future, too. I can’t help sharing a wonderful saying by Mevlana on this subject. Mevlana says, “A person with no troubles makes a trouble for themselves by wondering why they have no troubles.”
Just like you, societies have problems, too. Various circles give them different names. You’ve heard them: “a social wound,” “the problems of our society,” and so on! This is where politicians and politics come in, to find solutions to these kinds of problems... Their job is to solve those problems. (Not to identify them, as they do here!)
Our country has problems, too.
I should say that it is meaningless to say something like, “The biggest of these problems is the lack of a solution to the Cyprus problem.”
In fact, I can go further and say that we know politicians create problems in this country and then take refuge behind the lack of a solution to the Cyprus problem.
I can go further still and say that for years, politicians have used this excuse to pretend the problems in the public sector don’t exist, put them off, treat the sector as a vote bank, and thus make the problems impossible to resolve.
“This seemingly intractable situation will undoubtedly come to an end, and the problem will be solved in time.” You may think that’s a bold statement. Of course, I disagree with you! In fact, I want to go further on this point and make an even bolder statement: “When problems become impossible to resolve, they solve themselves. They will be solved, too!”
As for why I’m so confident:
Notice that “all sides” involved in the problem keep saying the same thing: “We are ready to put our hands under the stone. But ‘all sides’ must put their hands under the stone!”
I think the problem here is that all sides don’t realize they want the same thing!
And that’s why I’m writing this piece: to say, “Hey, ‘all sides,’ you’re all saying the same thing. Wake up!” (By the way, I don’t understand this “all sides” demagoguery...)
Considering that we live in the age of communication, writing an article like this to let people know what others are saying is a futile effort! I know...
But according to my observations, the most serious problem facing these “all sides” is that they can’t find the stone to put their hands under... And I think “all sides” are asking these days, “Where on earth is the stone?”
I found that stone!
The “stone” is OUR STATE, friends...
That “stone” is our state, the one whose salaries we receive and whose support we rely on, but have forgotten!
Remember our state.
Put your hands under the state we have been pressing down on harder with each passing day, bringing it to the point of collapse, and lift it up! Don’t be afraid—your hands won’t be crushed. If you keep pressing down, your bodies will sink along with the hands you fear will be crushed!
I know you’ll do it. You have to! You know it, too: “We have no other choice!” That’s why you say, “We’re ready to put our hands under the stone.” Don’t wait; don’t play for time... You won’t. I know...
That’s why I’m confident!
That’s why I say the public sector, now a tangle of problems, will be put right.
I’m hopeful...
Maybe I want to be hopeful...
