Where is the anxiety and uncertainty building up inside you, in proportion to the stagnation the global financial crisis you follow in the media every day has caused around the world, leading you? Could the media be contributing most to your being swept along by this wind of uncertainty? Could the economic anxieties about the future voiced by experts in the media actually be describing your own anxieties about your future? Could the economic embargoes being imposed actually be imposed on our minds? While the United States is being blamed for the origins of the global financial crisis, don’t you find it strange that your money is losing value while the currency of the country experiencing the crisis is gaining value? Does this make you wonder, ‘Could the global financial crisis be artificially created, a game being played by someone?’ Or have you ever occupied your mind with the question, ‘Do the reports about the global financial crisis appearing in the media reflect the truth?’ Are you afraid that these preoccupations will make you unhappy?
With all these questions so obvious, how does it make you feel when officials in the country where you live attribute almost everything, from water shortages to headaches, to the global financial crisis? Is the economic crisis in the country really so closely connected to the rest of the world? Has this economic crisis brought about fundamental changes in your life? Are you troubled by the lack of measures you hear about from political circles? Are you shaping your life, investments, and future around the words of people who spread doom and gloom and hope to gain political advantage? Have you ever invested on the word of a politician? Who is governing you? You? The media? Your free thoughts? Can you think freely? Or does being confronted with these questions make you unhappy? Or do you think you are happy by not answering and not asking questions?
Are you very far removed from the Cyprus issue? Do you not want to remain distant from it? Or are you bored? How can you stay away from a process in which your future is being discussed? Can being bored be an excuse for not caring about your future? And what will you say if one day your children ask, ‘I wish you hadn’t been bored’? Given all this, is the media, which constantly brings the Cyprus issue to the fore, really as stuck in a vicious cycle as you think? Or could the media be pushing an issue you need to care about on you? Does being indifferent make you happy? Do you say, ‘Ignorance is bliss’?
You may think you are happy thanks to all this… Unfortunately, you are not happy! As you read these lines, look around you, look into your friends’ eyes: can you see the light you were once used to seeing?
Are you encountering people who spend their days without hope, with only fleeting moments of happiness?
Not just them!
Look at yourself, too…
Stand in front of a mirror and ask yourself questions. Give honest answers, make sense of your life. Take an interest in your surroundings; give thought to world affairs. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be afraid; this won’t make you unhappy… You are already unhappy… Hope to see you on Thursday…
