Especially when it comes to the country’s problems and their causes, we have imposed our own truths on the public in line with our interests. When our interests clash, our truths change a little.
We have come to take refuge in our excuses in all seriousness. The fact that the world does not know us sometimes serves our interests and can even become our greatest source of support.
We simply make up characteristics of our own.
The strange thing is that we believe them too.
On the one hand, we say, “We need to take the lack of a solution seriously.” When we cannot get something done, the Cyprus problem suddenly becomes our biggest problem, so that our incompetence will not be exposed. Our excuses never end. No one is better than us at making excuses instead of getting things done.
No one explains how to get anything done.
By contrast, we always have a reason for the things we cannot do and do not do.
When we get tired of the excuses, we change them through elections. We elect those who shout about change, only to see that the excuses are what change. We constantly hear claims that some people are preventing others from doing their jobs. We are made to believe that the whole job of some people is to stop those we elect from getting anything done.
Do we believe it?
Our greatest skill and experience lies in not coming to our senses.
We do not want to come to our senses.
We only talk about the state our country is in.
We know everything very well and talk about solutions to the problems. But when it comes to getting things done, none of us is anywhere to be seen...
Our excuses are our greatest source of support.
But for how long?
When will those among us who come up with solutions to problems and put them into practice without taking refuge behind excuses finally emerge?
When will those among us who can see the realities of the country, without thinking of their own interests or those of the groups they represent, and who act in the public’s interest, govern us?
Soon.
Don’t worry...
