The “Toparlanıyoruz movement” also caught my attention on social media. The statements reflect an approach that is on all our minds and hits the bull’s-eye in identifying problems…
For those unfamiliar with the subject, I’ve “pulled together” what people are saying in their #toparlanıyoruz tweets on social media and what they are aiming for; •The most important feature of the #toparlanıyoruz movement is that it is distinctive (original). It is a movement saying: if you have something to say about the future, say it now.
•#toparlanıyoruz because if we join hands and become “us,” we can make the place where we live more beautiful, more prosperous, and more livable..
•We’re pulling together from all sides under #toparlanıyoruz—not to identify problems, but to come up with alternative solutions to problems that have already been identified.
•#toparlanıyoruz to become a society that produces again, believes in itself, is aware of its potential, and works with enthusiasm.
•#toparlanıyoruz so that the dreams we struggle for and work day and night to achieve do not disappear, but come true.
•Anyone who thinks this system is unworthy of them is a potential part of US, as long as they are open to change... Naturally, #toparlanıyoruz •Until this broken system changes, our future is dark, whether or not there are solutions. #toparlanıyoruz to clear the way for the Turkish people and establish a just system.
•#toparlanıyoruz to restore to the Turkish Cypriot people the respect and self-confidence they deserve.
•People can choose to shut themselves away at home and cry, or just watch with a morbid state of mind, but we can’t afford that luxury—that’s why #toparlanıyoruz.
•#toparlanıyoruz not for a shared point of view, but for the common “good” found among different points of view.
•It’s time to put an end to this disarray and chaos, #toparlanıyoruz •#toparlanıyoruz because finding common interests has become more important than ever… If we look for what we have in common rather than what divides us, perhaps we won’t be divided either.
•Regardless of party or differences of opinion, #toparlanıyoruz in Northern Cyprus.
•You have to fight for everything you don’t deserve....#toparlanıyoruz so we can fight together.
Are we too late for this movement?
Or are you the ones who are too late to join it?
Whatever the case, it remains to be seen whether this movement can pull together all this disarray, but I think at least it is a beginning. So I hope this movement does not become politicized, that the tone does not deteriorate, that we do not move away from rational thinking, and that people who care about their country continue to come together on the path to becoming “us.”
Note: I deliberately did not say who wrote the tweets, because I believe that at the heart of #toparlanıyoruz is “US.”
