The Ejder Aslanbaba affair has taken on a tragicomic turn…
Aslanbaba, who said he had taken a bribe, told the court that he had not taken a bribe. Okay, but if there was no bribery, what was everything we went through?
In other words, what was the purpose? In my view, the purpose was something else…
When I think about what happened, I see this affair as an “Audio Recordings Operation” carried out so that we would hear the recordings.
The fact that none of the conversations in the audio recordings presented as evidence of bribery explicitly concerned bribery leads me to this view.
So what was this operation intended to achieve? In other words, what was in it?
Conversations involving many people, including the President…
That means those people’s conversations had to be exposed, and the recordings were leaked for that reason…
What was the result? As yesterday’s Havadis Newspaper headline put it, it became a “Masakara”…
What was the result? As Prime Minister Siber pointed out on the first day, it was the discrediting of Parliament and a further erosion of the public’s trust in politics, both in Turkey and across the media…
Who won? No one…
Who lost? Everyone…
So the “Audio Recordings Operation” resulted both in a waste of time and in wounds that will be difficult to heal…
I hope our country’s politics and our Parliament do not make the news again because of incidents like this…
Kervansaray Public Disco
I live in a place next to Kervansaray Public Beach. As someone who lives there, it may not be right for me to write an article like this. After all, it is somewhat difficult for me to be impartial, but the truth is one.
A party was held at Kervansaray Beach last Sunday evening. I also think it is a good idea for people to enjoy themselves on the beach… But I do not think it is very sensible to make others suffer while entertaining people. I believe a decision needs to be made here. Is it Kervansaray Public Beach, or a public disco? If it is going to continue as a disco, steps must be taken accordingly. At the very least, it should not be held on Sunday evenings…
I do not want to be misunderstood. I am not against the entertainment industry. In fact, I think the existing venues are inadequate. However, as we all know, I am sure there will be a lot of debate about this again this summer, as there is every summer. This is a problem that has gone unresolved for years… Yet many holiday destinations have solved it… For example, in Alanya, all the clubs in the city and residential areas close after a certain hour, and the entertainment continues outside the city, in an area where no one lives… The same could certainly be considered for Kyrenia…
In that case, neither those making investments nor the citizens affected by the noise would be disadvantaged… In other words, those responsible for making a decision can find a sensible solution to this issue as soon as possible… Minister Mehmet Harmancı surely knows this problem and its possible solutions very well. Even though his term in office is short, he can take a firm stand on this issue and provide an important service.
