"Justice must first come from the state. (Aristo)

Following the UBP congress held on October 21, Ahmet Kaşif, a candidate for UBP chairman, believed there had been an injustice. Taking inspiration from the words “Overthrow an unjust regime with justice. (GANDHI),” he sought justice, saying, “There is nothing as great and divine as justice. (ADDISON),” and keeping in mind the proverb, “Justice limps and walks slowly, but sooner or later it reaches its destination. (MIREBAU)”…

Virtually the same voice rose from all the media(!), all speaking in unison: “Let justice be done, though the heavens fall. (WILLIAM WATSON)”…

For the media knew very well the words, “Justice can arise only from truth, and happiness only from justice. (EMİLE ZOLA)”…

Our judiciary, meanwhile, was trying to hear the case in keeping with the principle that “Justice delayed is injustice. (W. S. LANDOR),” and wanted to reach a decision as soon as possible, saying, “Justice is the treasure of the state. (KONFUÇYUS)”…

After all, “The just must be strong, and the strong must be just. (BLAISE PASCAL)”…

A decision was reached, and “The arm that strikes with the sword of justice, however weak it may be, is still strong. (JOHN WEBSTER)”…

Now the parties will decide…

Will the parties say, “It is better to act justly and stand alone than to commit injustice and have everyone follow you. (GHANDI),” or will they insist on what they know, saying, “Justice is nothing other than the interest of the stronger. (Thrasymachus)”?

So far, what we have seen is the powerful trying to turn decisions made in defiance of Thrasymachus’s words to their own advantage…

Worse still, it seems that the law is being distorted, interpreted in different ways, even treated as nonexistent and weakened.

But “Where the force of law declines, the law of the powerful begins to prevail. (MAURICE DUEVERGER)” and “Justice without force is helpless; force without justice becomes tyranny. (Pascal)” I hope that from now on they will recognize this danger and become aware that “The greatest person is the one who shows humility when in the highest position, forgives when endowed with power, and acts justly when strong. (ABDÜLMELİK B. MERVAN)”…

I hope our leaders will now embrace the words, “To rule justly for one hour is better than worshipping for a year. (HZ. MUHAMMED)”…

And we…

Let us not forget that “Nations that do not punish statesmen who trample on justice are doomed to collapse. (HZ. MUHAMMED)”
