Unknown Prisoners on BRT…

The documentary film “Unknown Prisoners,” introduced to the public in 2011 by director and writer Cem Kar, will be broadcast on television for the first time on BRT in memory of the 40th anniversary of the 20 July Peace Operation.

Unknown Prisoners, which will meet viewers today (20 July 2014) on BRT 1 at 11:10 and 23:30, tells the stories, in their own words, of 75 Turkish Cypriots who were once missing and presumed dead, as well as journalists who came from Turkey.

IT HAD REACHED THE FINAL ROUND OF THE DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION The documentary also features information on where and when the decision to launch the Cyprus landing was first made, dozens of original documents from that day, and the first hidden-camera footage in the history of Turkish television. Noted for its distinctive editing technique, the documentary has been screened for audiences at special premieres and festivals in our country and Turkey. It also reached the final round of the 2012 TRT Documentary Competition, selected from among hundreds of films across Turkey. Cem Kar, who brought an unknown event to light through two years of research, has also written a book of the same name.
