With Ada TV beginning its broadcasts, Cem Kar, who had been away from television screens for a long time, will be appearing before viewers with The Midday News. Cem Kar, who will bring viewers the latest news and developments, spoke to _star_ KIBRIS about his projects at Ada TV.
You have been away from television for years. What have you been doing during that time?
Yes, I haven’t been in front of the camera for a long time. I first began presenting Kanal T’s Main News bulletin in 2000. After working at Kanal T for a short time, I moved to Akdeniz TV and then to BRTK. For a year, I worked at BRT as a director, news presenter, and program host. Toward the end of 2002, I stepped away from television and focused on radio broadcasting. I worked in radio presenter training, radio station setup consulting, and voice-over, among other areas. In the meantime, I continued—and still continue—to host “Boomerang,” the program I started at YDÜ FM in 2000.
How did you come to join Ada TV?
One of my plans for 2008 was to return to the television world, which I had missed so much. I often met with dear Nazmi Pınar, who has done very successful work in our country’s television industry, and we would talk about what we could do together. When I heard that Nazmi Pınar had become general manager of Ada TV, I had no doubt that different, high-quality work would be produced. Then one day Nazmi Pınar called and invited me to Ada TV. After touring Ada TV’s studios, I realized once again just how right my decision to stay away from television for years had been. Ada TV had taken major steps to raise the bar considerably in broadcasting in our country. Working with a good team there aligned with what I wanted to do, so I accepted Nazmi Pınar’s offer without hesitation.
