Torturous Flights

—Mr. Manager, I don’t think we should do that; the timings won’t line up, and we won’t be able to get a big enough crowd!

—Actually, you’re right… Yes, yes, let’s do it your way.

—All right, then now we’ll schedule all the flights for the same time, and we’ll have ensured an adequate level of torture… Long live evil!

—Hehehe, yes, it’s going to be so much fun…

The conversation above is fictional.

It has no connection to reality!

Whenever I go to Ercan, I wonder to myself, “Could it be that people are talking like this and making decisions this way?”

I can’t think of any other explanation; while waiting in that line that just keeps getting longer…

I can’t think of any other explanation; when there are so many gates, yet they try to process people through just one, with the line growing longer and longer and no regard for the queue.

I can’t see any other explanation that makes sense; when all the flights are scheduled for the same time!

Does that make sense to you?

I wonder if the people involved are talking like the people above?

Or is there something else going on?

For example, could airport management be scheduling all the flights for the same time so that the staff can get everything done at once?

Or is that what the staff want?

Or is this what the airlines prefer?

I can’t say that I’m interested in who is involved and/or whose decision it is; I don’t think that’s very important at this point!

All I can think is that it makes no sense…

As I was thinking about how illogical it is to schedule flights from Ercan for the same time, the other day I had a flight from Adana to Ercan and encountered the same thing again.

In other words, all the airlines land at or take off from Ercan at the same time!

But why?

What’s the point?

The only explanation I can think of is the logic that citizens should suffer, no matter what…

So, what explanation can you think of?

Or you…

Those of you involved in this!

What are your thoughts or explanation on this matter?

At Ercan, where only a limited number of planes land or take off, is it really so difficult to schedule these flight times? I’m sure the explanation will be: “This doesn’t depend on us alone; it has to do with the destination, the airlines, etc.”

It doesn’t matter who is responsible; what matters is the trouble and torture we passengers are made to endure!

Honestly, I can’t understand it!

Doesn’t anyone say, “Come on, these people are waiting in such long lines, waiting for their luggage, and so on. At least let’s schedule these flights for different times so people don’t have to suffer”?

Since I’m writing these lines, unfortunately, no one says that!

Hope to see you on Thursday…

Pay attention to your surroundings, keep them clean, and please be courteous in traffic!
