Enver Bturalp, 12th on the DP Lefkoşa candidate list, was Cem Kar’s guest on Öğle Ajası yesterday.
Young Enver answered every question with great maturity and with the ease that comes from having a wealth of knowledge, but the real question-and-answer session was waiting for him outside:
- How are the election campaigns going?
- In a way befitting the leading party.
- Across the country?
- We’re the number-one party.
- Lefkoşa?
- We’re in second place.
- What are the chances for a candidate in 12th place?
-- If you look at the electoral system, you’ll see they’re as good as those of the candidate in first place.
- Could the election produce a single-party government?
- If DP doesn’t, the others have no chance. But a coalition awaits us.
- Which party would you prefer?
- Public opinion says DP-UBP. At this point, CTP is out of the question. How will they explain to our esteemed party leader why they suddenly sidelined us?
Would you form a government with ÖRP or TDP?
- These two parties have no chance. Let them clear the threshold first, and then we’ll think about it.
FINAL WORD: There’s a lot of potential in this young man. He deserves congratulations, if only for choosing Serdar Denktaş!

And the President took to the streets!
The colorful face of DP leader Serdar Denktaş’s “march to power” through Lefkoşa’s old town, with the party’s Lefkoşa candidates by his side, was undoubtedly Mayor Bulutoğulları.
Those who saw President Cemal, who withdrew his candidacy at the last minute, beside Serdar couldn’t help saying, “Now that’s more like it—DP can finally contend for the lead in Lefkoşa.” I’ve only told you what I heard; they say no harm comes to the messenger!

(Tansu Çiller couldn’t explain that Yalova became Turkey’s 77th province on the 7th day of the 7th month, so she was forced (!) to mix up Ramadan Bayram and Eid al-Adha too!!!!)

“Democracy is a form of government that gives you the opportunity to say freely what you think, even if you’ve never thought about anything in your life.
(H.L. MENCKEN)
If the ballot produces a single-party government, we’re in for it. If there are two, we can manage; if there are three, “WELL… there you go”; if there are four, “I’M DOOMED.” But God forbid a national coalition or some similar monstrosity comes out of it—we’re toast!
