Is anyone among you willing to be a leader/hero?

Among the most important services a state should provide its people (if it is indeed a welfare state, as those governing us claim) are healthcare, education, and security.

Let’s start with the healthcare system…

The healthcare system has collapsed. How can anyone possibly get proper service from any healthcare center? Quite clearly, the state is not safeguarding public health or providing free healthcare to the people. The system is shifting further toward the private sector with each passing day, and our entrepreneurs are aware of this! In fact, if we were ill-intentioned, we might comment, “Public healthcare is shifting to the private sector through state action. Are those who fail to fix the system serving this cause?” But let’s not abandon good faith…

When we look at our education system, we find the same problems… Citizens with middle-range incomes, fed up with the Education Ministry’s ineffectiveness, teachers’ strikes, and the never-ending shortcomings, are forced to send their children to private schools. Once again, through state action, people are turning to the private sector for their children’s education. Those who do not solve these problems are serving this cause, knowingly or unknowingly. The public loses out under this arrangement, while entrepreneurs profit.

As for security, thankfully the system’s wheels are not completely tied to politics. If they were, we’d be in trouble… Of course, there are problems, but at least it is an institution people trust.

I won’t even get into the economy, agriculture, the environment, tourism, and so on… No matter where you try to get a hold of it, it falls apart in your hands…

But, as the famous physicist Stephen Hawking also said, “As long as we breathe, there is hope.” I approach the matter with this in mind, and think that “not losing hope should be our most important source of support at this point”…

Look at the histories of countries; you will see that leaders have generally emerged when countries or societies have reached an impasse, could find no way forward, or were at war.

When I think about our country’s problems, I see that the conditions are ripe for someone to become a “leader/hero.”

The country’s problems have reached such a point that anyone who makes a change aimed at bringing about some improvement would almost be elevated by the people to the position of leader and/or hero.

With this in mind, those governing the country should be asked: “Is anyone among you willing to be a leader/hero?”
