There’s a strange feeling hanging over me…
Tomorrow, the UBP congress process we’ve been talking about for months will _(hopefully)_ come to an end.
But what then?
What will happen next?
Will the sides embrace one another?
Judging by the UBP system and the latest transfers, of course they will…
So what was everything we’ve been through?
Who didn’t say what during this process…
The dirty laundry came tumbling out, piece by piece… The sheep were sorted from the goats!
We saw very well how the country is being governed. We witnessed everything: who and what are being sacrificed, and for what… Debates over employment, dismissals, appointments, favors for delegates, favors for businessmen—all of it happened during this process…
Grievances, switching sides, stomachs turned into trash cans, departments turned into vote banks, promises, pledges—all of it, every last bit, unfolded before our eyes…
According to some, the country descended into chaos; according to others, it achieved stability… We’ve come to confuse truth with lies. The distinction between right and wrong has lost its meaning. Those who shouted louder thought they had proved themselves right; those who stayed silent thought they had demonstrated their own righteousness… Politics and politicians in this country became, in a sense, proof of the absence of politics…
The sides’ belligerence and ambition brought out into the open individuals pursuing their own interests… We were able to see them one by one, see how they suddenly switched sides and even how they used religion for this…
We said, “What a shame,” and sighed over the state of our country… We felt sorry for the empty seats in our country’s parliament… We felt sorry for the votes we cast for those seats…
Some of us lamented not being UBP delegates; others, being delegates but not getting a share…
Tomorrow, this film ends…
I wonder if it was only the first installment?
As I said at the outset, there’s a strange feeling hanging over me, and so that strangeness has found its way into my writing too… Press conferences, statements, counteraccusations, digs, and so on… I think they’ve left my mind in a whirl… I wrote in this state of mind… I don’t know how you’re feeling, but this process that has created chaos, reaching its final point with chaos of statements, has left me very tired…
Have a good weekend…
